This is Zebadee. Zebadee is a zebra. He has black and white stripes and lives where the sun is warm and bright. Zebadee is standing very still, so he doesn’t get spotted by the lions and tigers. They’re SOOOO SCARRRYYY! Zebadee is thinking, “Where is my friend, Zeta?”

Zebadee starts to walk across the grass. He is looking for his friend, Zeta. Soon, he spots his friends—the impala—by the water. The boy impala has beautiful long horns. The girl impalas are having a cool drink. “Hello!” says Zebadee, politely. “Have you seen Zeta?”

Zebadee follows the sun, step by step. Up above, birds are flying high. “Have you seen Zeta?” Zebadee calls. But the birds just swoop and soar. Zebadee feels a little bit cross. He wishes he could fly and see far too.

Zebadee keeps walking. He looks around—and under a big tree is a sleepy lion with a golden mane. Zebadee feels his heart thump. He remembers: lions can be dangerous! So Zebadee runs as fast as his legs will go!

Zebadee runs until he is far away from the lion. He sees elephants—one very big, and some little ones too. “Excuse me,” says Zebadee, “have you seen another zebra?” The biggest elephant flaps her ears and says, “We saw a zebra, just back there by the big tree.”

Zebadee searches by the big tree, but Zeta isn’t there. Instead, he meets Rob the Rhino, who has two strong horns. “Hello Rob!” says Zebadee. “Have you seen Zeta?” Rob shakes his big head. “Not today, Zebadee. But the buffalo are eating on the plain. Maybe they have seen her.”??

Zebadee finds a herd of buffalo munching grass. “Hello, Buffalo! Have you seen Zeta?” asks Zebadee. One buffalo lifts his head.“We saw Zeta by the river, not long ago. If you hurry, you might catch her!” As Zebadee trots away, he sees two leopards watching from the shadows. But today, the leopards are not interested in chasing, and Zebadee slips past, safe and sound.

At last, Zebadee reaches the river. And there is Zeta—enjoying the water! “Zeta!” calls Zebadee, happy and tired. Zeta gallops over, smiling. “I’m glad you found me,” she says. Now, Zebadee and Zeta are together again!
